About Us

The George Washington (G.W.) High School Band has been a multi-decade award winning program of many facets. The Marching Eagles successfully competed up and down the east coast at field show competitions (i.e. Bands of America, USBands, and local competitions) and parades. Most recently the Marching Eagles received:

Invitation to perform in the 2018 Inaugaration Parade for Govenor Ralph Northam

2017 Virginia State Champions - Class 5 Open - USBands

2016 1st Place - Battle of the Bands - Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade - Charlotte, NC

The G.W. Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Bands have received numerous recognitions and consistent superior ratings at the VA Disctrict VI Concert Assessment.

The dedication of the Band Directors, Assistant Directors, and staff who have instructed these ensembles to continued success over the years has greatly impacted those who have worked with them. We especially thank Mr. Reginald L. Purvis for his years of service. Mr. Purvis retired at the end of the 2017-2018 school year after serving as the G.W. Band Director for 30 years.

Looking forward, we remember the success of the past, and strive to maintain excellence in all that we do!
